Today I’d like to share Alison’s story as she recently cleaned out three generations of items in the family home. She wanted to find new owners for the items not wanted by the remaining family members, as well as contribute to her community. The items presented a range of challenges that tested and proved Alison’s patience, persistence, and research abilities. Many people who are downsizing ageing family members have these shared experiences.

For example, in the 1980s the family purchased two chairs specially designed for long-term sitting. Alison thought they might be perfect for seniors who spend much of the day sitting. The local seniors’ home confirmed her thoughts and were delighted to receive the chairs. Specialized retail outlets purchased some items. Museums accepted other items as donations. Some items went to deserving members of Alison’s personal network of associates. Overall, everyone benefited and the majority of items found a new home in a way that honoured the original owners.

Alison felt a great deal of satisfaction (but was a little tired too) after her estate clearance experience was complete. The Out of Chaos team can help you declutter your space, through a move, downsizing, or an annual clean-out. By letting us assist you in finding happy new homes for items you are discarding, you can enjoy the shared experiences of feeling satisfied without the fatigue. Simply send us an inquiry through our website.
