I was thrilled to be interviewed by Allan Britnell of Cottage Life Magazine for their article about organizing the cottage.

Like any home you leave vacant for an extended period, there are special storage considerations when organizing the cottage. Here are a few points I covered in the article.

  • Store fabrics such as linens and extra clothing in sealed bins or trunks to prevent insect infestation.
  • Ensure swimming and boating gear is clean and dry before you store them.
  • Create seasonal “opening up” and “closing down” checklists to ensure you complete all essential tasks.
  • Inventory all items at the cottage to easily see what you have so you don’t accidentally purchase duplicates.
