I was thrilled to be interviewed by Jennifer Fresher of West Coast Families Magazine. The article Mommy Life Makeover discusses a number of issues facing busy parents today.

Time Management

My top tip is to use a to-do list for everything. Having a list will help you focus on what is most important. Create schedules and routines to keep everyone on track. Prioritize tasks so you can cope with emergencies and still get the important work completed. Use a family calendar system to avoid scheduling conflicts.

Decluttering

Get the whole family to help declutter the home. For items that you haven’t used recently but may not want to donate, put them in boxes. Store the boxes for six months, if you haven’t opened the boxes during that time, donate the contents.

Communication

Communication is key to staying on track. Talk about your expectations and goals. Divide tasks so you can meet everyone’s needs. If budget allows, look at services like a housekeeper, lawn maintenance, etc. Remember that your time worth something too. Is it better to spend with family or do chores the entire weekend?
